Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Storm Water Program regulates storm water discharges from three potential sources: municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s), construction activities, and industrial activities. Most states are authorized to implement the NPDES Storm Water Program and administer their own storm water permitting programs. Facilities seeking authorization under state or federal storm water permitting programs must prepare and implement a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), which establishes the operational and maintenance requirements of the facility in relation to storm water discharges.
