Greenhouse Gas Specialist (onsite, hybrid, remote consideration)
Sphere 3 Environmental, LLC is currently seeking a Greenhouse Gas Specialist to join our Air and Sustainability Management Team. We are looking for an experienced scientist with the technical skills and regulatory knowledge to drive successful compliance for our oil and gas clients.
What you’ll do
- Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on existing and proposed state/federal GHG regulations affecting the oil and gas industry.
- Coordinate the collection of GHG data; calculation of GHG emissions, evaluation, quality assurance, and reporting of GHG (Subpart W) emissions to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Identify emerging GHG related issues, assessing gaps and providing recommendations to address them.
- Support GHG verification activities, emerging issues, data inventory and audit functions.
- Manage projects, schedules and budgets as necessary.
- Evaluate and interpret air quality regulatory requirements implemented by federal, state, or local environmental agencies.
- Combine, organize, restructure, and enter data from large data sets into regulatory reporting formats.
- Coordinate with clients and other team members to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Support emissions related calculations and reporting for projects outside of GHG reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, and preferably Master’s Degree, in engineering, environmental sciences or related disciplines, with a focus on climate change and air emissions.
- Minimum 6 years environmental compliance or related experience, with comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with air and greenhouse gas regulations pertaining to oil and gas operations.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience managing large groups of operational data at a detailed or summary level to support emission calculation and reporting.
- Demonstrated sound analytical and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are loosely defined and/or where information is available but must be further analyzed.
- Strong team orientation, demonstrating a high level of collaboration and cooperation within functional and cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in assessing the impact of and developing/implementing strategies to address environmental air emissions regulatory initiatives.
- Excellent computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and emissions modeling software, such as BR&E ProMax.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

Safety Specialist (onsite)
Sphere 3 Environmental is seeking a Safety Specialist for its Longview, Texas environmental consulting office. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for maintaining the safety of our team and contributing to the successful implementation of our consulting services.
What you’ll do
- Develop safety-related policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety analyses on specific jobs where required.
- Provide training and resources to employees to enhance EHS awareness and practices.
- Industrial Hygiene principles and techniques involved in Hearing conservation, Silica, Hydrogen Sulfide as examples.
- Perform job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions have been completed.
- Manage drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Coordinate and participate in investigations for injuries, near miss incidents and property damage incidents.
- Serve as primary liaison with physicians. Coordinate limited duty and temporary assignments.
- Work closely with workers’ compensation insurer to provide timely compensation and timely and adequate medical care to injured employees.
- Coordinate ordering, maintenance, and distribution of personal safety equipment to employees, ensuring related records are maintained.
- Management of company fleet vehicles.
- Accompany third party representatives (e.g. OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, Clients, etc.) on inspections; ensure corrective action on violations.

Required Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study. 7+Years of safety management experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- OSHA 30 and 510 certifications required.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills.
- The successful candidate must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test and maintain a drug-free status with our substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Professional communications skills verbally as well as in written format.
- Working knowledge of computers including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to quickly learn and implement a variety of safety reporting and tracking software.
- Strong organizational and time management skill and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail oriented with the ability to recognize hazards and provide solutions to mitigate safety incidents for a variety of work locations and activities.
- Able to interact professionally with all levels of management and client representatives while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to freely access all points of a project site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred certifications include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS) Construction Health, Safety Technician (CHST).
- OSHA 500 preferred.
- Experience with implementation of safety programs for environmental surveys/investigations at oil and natural gas exploration and pipeline facilities is preferred.
- Experience conducting a variety of environmental assessments.

Geologist (onsite, hybrid consideration)
Sphere 3 Environmental is seeking an experienced geologist to work on a variety of projects ranging from site investigations to regulatory compliance tasks, feasibility studies, and remedial design implementation.
What You’ll Do
- Develop strong working relationships with clients.
- Conduct site investigation activities, including soil, groundwater, and stormwater sampling.
- Plan and manage all aspects of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Prepare stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) for a variety of construction projects and commercial/industrial facilities.
- RCRA/Hazardous waste management.
- Remediation design, management, and oversight.
- Prepare spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plans (SPCC).
- Prepare field documentation and technical reports.
- Develop proposals in response to RFPs and client requests.
- Participate in the development of regional and company-wide marketing strategies.
- Regulatory agency coordination and implementation of new environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years environmental consulting experience.
- HAZWOPER training and certification.
- Experience with multi-media environmental sampling.
- Experience with RCRA and CERCLA processes (RI/FS, RD/RA).
- Understanding of federal and state environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

Optical Gas Imaging Camera Operator
Sphere 3 Environmental is currently seeking candidates for an Optical Gas Imaging Camera Operator position based out of its Longview, Texas office. This position will be full-time with benefits. The successful applicant will travel to oil and gas facilities and conduct leak detection surveys utilizing an Optical Gas Imaging infrared camera.
What you’ll do
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilize an Optical Gas Imaging infrared camera to inspect outdoor piping and equipment associated with oil and gas production facilities, midstream pipeline facilities, and gas plants.
- Conduct GPS field data collection and assist with other environmental projects as needed.
- Approximately 60% of your time will be spent conducting field inspections away from the office for projects in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, with remainder of time spent in the office working on reports, mapping, and assisting with other projects.
- Will communicate findings with Sphere 3 managers and client representatives both verbally and in written reports.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental or Safety related field of study.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- The successful candidate must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to work in the field and office environment.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
